会話で"xxx..., with that being said, yyy..." と言ったら「xxx...、ということで、yyy...」という意味で使われる。ところが、文脈によっては「xxx...、とは言うものの、yyy...」という意味にもなる。with that being saidの意味は、前後の内容によって決まる。

結局、どういう意味かは前後の文脈から決まるので、with...が一つの意味しかないと思っていると、実際に出会ったときに戸惑うことになる。

英語は厄介だと思ってしまったが、たとえば日本語の助詞「が」も単純接続だったり逆説だったりするので、英語特有の話ではない。単純接続の用法が日本語として正しいかどうかという話ではなくて、日常的に目にするのは間違いないので。
